So as many, both listeners and staff have seen, we are slowly turning our production and labor towards network upgrades and site updates. For those who have taken up the task of coding, talking to listeners or just being supportive, I thank you. To all the listeners, I would like to thank you for hanging in there during our slow time of the year and sending emails, tweets and instant messages about how much you can’t wait for us to come back.
I wanted to try to make a complete list of updates that are being made along with updates that were made recently.
The Sacred Archives
This is a huge effort being led by myself with Rina and Sashimi. We are downloading, stripping bed music off, optimizing and then repackaging at a higher bitrate. Most of the audio is RAW audio that was still, miraculously on my computer so we’ve lost little to no quality from doing this and in many cases gained quality in areas that we lacked previously. As of right now, we have remastered all of Season 4 and have started on Season 1. We are trying to track down episodes for Season 3 but so far have had no luck what-so-ever.
Sacred Podcast
So the podcast in general, we have a new host. This is HUGE! We will be moving everything from Podbean to Archive.org which has agreed to host all files for free with no bandwidth caps! This is an amazing effort that will save the network around $100 or more a year in hosting fees.
Firebloom
We recently compiled a Movie Review section that includes every movie review we have done TO DATE! We will be doing the same soon with a Game Review section as time permits.
Dave’s Blog
I’ve started to post more blog entries as I think of them, giving my own thoughts on blogs, podcasts and how to run websites. It has brought up some debates in the inbox as well with people almost regularly disagreeing with me, which is fine. I welcome all challengers to take me on when it comes to opinions.
Terra
Unless my creative spark comes back, this blog will be taken down entirely. As of right now this is still a ghost blog (I haven’t linked it from the portal) mainly because I don’t know how I want to handle it. I want to share my story with you free, but I don’t want people taking off with it like they did with the first two entries. Had one person already plagiarize both entries as his own. I had to contact his host and order a take down notice. And for those asking, file sharing, piracy and plagiarizing are all different things.
Sacred
We are still running incredibly strong, I’ve got Rina working on the think-tank on what else we can add to it. We are working on a new feature called The Sacred Confession where you can call a voice mail and leave an audio message that can be included with the podcast. I already have the number, I just need to test it out and make sure it doesn’t ring my house 24/7.
Network
We added Twitter support for all networks. If you are staff, you will notice that your logins are now the same for all sites that you have access to and that you log into one centralized database. We are in the process of making fan pages for both sites and staff that wish to have a fan page. Contact me if you wish to have Rina or myself set one up. (You can do it yourself as well)
Affiliates
Sacred is part of Azeroth United which has been doing the Child’s Play charity event, Hearts, Hands and Voices. The network is also a supporter of Sir Noggin which is a combined effort of Fatty, the WCRadio 2009 WoW Idol winner and the rest of online community to help an adopted kitten to have as normal a life as possible. We also support The Speed Gamers, Desert Bus For Hope and Child’s Play.
